Product

Creating a home for your feathered neighbors is a long-standing human tradition. It reflects our desire to connect with nature to observe, support, and participate without intrusion. The quiet freedom of the natural world has always captivated us, and that sense of wonder is what sparked this process.

Process

The process began with simple sketches and quickly evolved into 3D mockups. Through iterative form development and real-world testing (captured with a trail camera) a clear direction emerged. From there, we advanced into more refined 3D design, supported by continued testing with 3D-printed prototypes.

Solution

The final solution utilized a resin cold-casting process with silicone molds. This approach provided the design flexibility and production speed required. With an approximate 15-minute set time, parts could be produced significantly faster than with 3D printing, while avoiding the higher costs and tooling associated with injection molding. Additionally, the casting process allows for the incorporation of bronze powder into the resin, resulting in an authentic metal finish that naturally develops a patina over time.
